WE LOVE OUR HOUSE

Five years ago, my wife Janet and I purchased three acres of land in Travelers Rest with the thought we might build “our forever” home and garage on the property. Against the admonitions of friends and family we made the decision to build.

At the time we lived in Atlanta but had a relationship with a realtor in Greenville who introduced us to several custom home builders in the area. We met with several but were most comfortable, and felt we could work, Ryan Vicars and his Team at Vicars Construction (“Vicars”). There were numerous factors that led us to engage Vicars, most notably the Team’s personable and professional approach to the project coupled with Ryan’s business approach and candor with respect to the build time frame. A key factor was Vicars’ experience in building custom garages.

After agreeing on the contract terms and getting the necessary permits construction commenced in earnest in the summer of 2024. Construction was delayed several months because of site issues and Hurricane Helene, neither of which were due to Vicars. Throughout the build process the Team did an excellent job of keeping me informed of its progress. All the subcontractors, electricians, plumbing, HVAC, masons, roofers, and painters were pleasant and easy to work with even when we made cosmetic design tweaks. During construction Ryan made frequent visits to the property and suggested several excellent design changes, all of which were incorporated in the final house design. Ryan has a critical eye for detail and, without our request, had contractors redo their work if it was not up to his standards.

We moved into our home in the fall of 2025. After we moved in Vicars had contractors visit our home, make minor repairs, and touch up, something you expect a quality builder to do but often they do not. We absolutely love our home and the quality of its construction and finish work.

Throughout the process Ryan and everyone on the Team was responsive, pleasant, and extremely easy to deal with. I can recommend without reservation Ryan and Vicars Construction if you are interested in working with a quality organization that will build you a home that you can be proud of.
